Poland Travel Guide

Some of it is
not sightseeing.

More than a million people visit Auschwitz every year. It is a memorial and a burial ground, not an attraction, and the museum is unusually direct about what that means for how you behave there.

Poland has beautiful cities, a serious food culture and some of the best-value travel in Europe. It also contains the largest sites of the Holocaust, and a meaningful share of visitors come specifically for them. The institutions running those places publish clear guidance on visiting, photography and conduct. Read that first, from them, rather than from a tour aggregator selling a day trip from Kraków.

The memorial sites
